Eligibility
Candidates for admission to the first Semester of the Master’s Degree Programmes shall be required to have passed an appropriate Bachelor Degree Examination of a recognized University as specified hereunder or any other examination of any recognized University or authority accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University as equivalent thereto.
TANCET score is also valid for admission** to MBA/MCA Degree Programme of Distance Mode. (However, such candidates have to apply for admission in the prescribed form and the admission is subject to validity of TANCET score). They can also appear for the Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET) and compete with others.
Candidates with AMIE or similar qualification awarded by Professional Institutes approved by MHRD are also eligible for admission** to MBA/MCA Degree Programme of Distance Mode, if they have two years of experience after obtaining AMIE or similar certificate.

Entrance Tests
Entrance Tests shall be conducted at selected centres (subject to availability of minimum number of candidates) twice in a year - one in January for Calendar Year (CY) batch and the other in July for Academic Year (AY) batch.
Admission
Candidates selected are eligible for admission to MBA/MCA/MSc Degree Programme in any one of the immediate two successive batches of admission (i.e.)Academic Year (AY) batch or Calendar Year (CY) batch.
Study Centres
Study Centres will be operated in selected cities in Tamil Nadu only where there are sufficient number of candidates.
Contact Classes
Contact classes will be conducted on 12 days in alternative week ends during the period from March to July and September to January. Minimum of 50% attendance is required for appearing for the End Semester Examinations. Candidate falling short of attendance will be prevented from appearing for the End Semester Examinations and he/she has to redo the same Semester.

About Anna University
Anna University is the prime university in India. It was set up on 4th September 1978. Initially, Ana University joins hand with four major colleges’ across the city. The association of the university was with College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), established in 1794, and Madras Institute of Technology, Chrompet (MIT) established in 1949, becomes the first to offer the engineering degrees in India.
Anna University set up B.E. Degree Courses in Mechanical Engineering in the year 1894, which is the first institute to launch the computer centre in the early sixties. Today, the university offers education to Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences for the benefit of the masses across the nation. With the high –end research and technical knowledge, it nurtures the communities from academic to industrial sectors.
The southern part in the city of Madras (Chennai) is the prime location with the campus spread over 100 hectors adjoining the Adyar River on the northern part and Raj Bhavan on the southern part of the state. However, the madras Madras Institute of Technology at Chrompet include the campus of the university that spread the land over 20 hectares. The university building has subdivided into various parts to meet the need of the university community.
The third campus of the university was located at Taramani near the Instronic campus, Adyar that procure the land of over 80 hectares. At present, the bioprocess laboratory gifted by SPIC situated near the campus along with few more centers of advanced studies that comprises of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Sugar Research Institute, Mechatronics Institute, Entrepreneurship Development Park, and Convention Centre would be the future house.
On December 2001, Anna University made a remarkable presence in the educational sector that loaded its head with 225 Self-financing Engineering Colleges, 6 Government Colleges and 3 Government-aided Engineering colleges situated in different parts of Tamil Nadu State and are highly recognized and affiliated with the major colleges across the country.
Anna University also offers postgraduate programs in the field of engineering and technology. It further offers competitive ambiance for research activities. The university is the member of Association of Indian Universities, the Association of Commonwealth Universities and Partner of UNESCO International Center for Engineering Education (UICEE). An affiliating university enjoys Five Star Status offered by the University Grants Commission. The University standing creates its excellence in the field of technical education and research background.
