Punjab University Common Entrance Test

Punjab University was established in 1997. The main aim of the Punjab University is to promote degree education in the Punjab state. Now university has 288 collages in all over Punjab who are offers the various courses. Punjab University conducts the Common Entrance Test for the admissions of First year in the course of Engineering and Technology. Nearly 34, 000 seats are filled by this CET. CET is conducted for the following Institutes:

• Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar

• Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar

• Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana

• Punjabi University, Patiala

• And for B. Pharmacy collages which are affiliated to PTU.

Eligibility Criteria for the PUCET:

The candidate should have passed 12th examination from the recognized University in Punjab. The candidates who appear for the final exam are also eligible for the PUCTE. 85% seats are reserved for the students from Punjab state. 

Examination Pattern:

Common Entrance Test has three papers, in which two subjects are compulsory i.e. Physics and Mathematics foe Engineering and for Pharmacy Physics and Chemistry is compulsory. For third subjects engineering students can choose from Chemistry / Bio-technology/ Biology or Computer Science. For pharmacy students these options are Mathematics/ Any one of Biology subjects/ Bio-technology or Computer Science. Two hours will be given for all three papers. 

Selection procedure for PUCET:

Selection of candidates is done by the merit obtained in CET. Eligible candidates gets the admissions is different collages as per the preference given by them.

Examination Centers:

Exam is conducted in all over Punjab. More than ten centers are anvil for the examination by the Punjab University. Two examination centers choice is given to the candidates by the preference provided in application form. 

General Information:

The candidates from outside state are not eligible for the admission in Government College but they are eligible for private college.
