Rashtriya Indian Military College Dehradun Entrance Examination 

NOTIFICATION NO: 01/2011

Rashtriya Indian Military College has issued Notification for the Entrance 

Examination for admission to VIII Class in the R.I.M.C. Dehradun for the Term January 2012.  The Examination will be held on 01/06/2011 (Wednesday) and 02/06/2011 (Thursday) at Hyderabad.  Only Boys are eligible to apply.  The candidate should either  be studying in Class VII or passed Class VII from any recognised School.  They should  not be less than 11 1/2 years in age but should not have attained the age of 13 years as  on 01/06/2012 i.e., they should not be born earlier than 02/01/1999 and not later than  01/07/2000. 

The prospectus along with the application form can be procured directly from 

Commandant, R.I.M.C.  Dehradun-248 003 on payment of Rs. 250/- through Demand  Draft obtained in favour of Commandant, R.I.M.C., Dehradun payable at State Bank of  India, Tel Bhavan Branch (Code No. 1576), Dehradun.

Application form along with prospectus and previous Question Papers can also 

be had from Additional Secretary, A.P. Public Service Commission, Hyderabad in on  (person payment of Rs. 250/- in the shape of Demand Draft payable at State Bank of  India, Tel Bhavan Branch Code No. 1576), Dehradun obtained in favour of  Commandant, R.I.M.C., Dehradun.  Candidates desirous of obtaining application form  and prospectus by post, should enclose self addressed cover size 30 x 25 c.m. duly  affixing postal stamps worth of Rs. 50/-(Rupees Fifty only) along with Demand Draft and  send the requisition before 15/03/2011.

Filled in application forms along with necessary certificates in duplicate should be  sent to the Additional Secretary, A.P. Public Service Commission, Pratibha Bhavan,  Beside Gandhi Bhavan, Nampally, Hyderabad – 500 001.

About Rashtriya Indian Military College 

The Rashtriya Indian Military College or the RIMC is a public school for boys situated in Doon Valley, Dehradun in India. The name of the school was Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College but it was re-named in 1947. The RIMC is a feeder institution for the National Defence Academy, Indian Naval Academy and subsequently the Indian Armed Forces. Rimcollians, the name by which alumni of the RIMC are usually denoted, have gone on to hold the highest ranks in the Army, Navy and the Air Force of India and Pakistan.

Only 25 Cadets are admitted every six-month. Rashtriya Indian Military College conducts an admission process for admission in Class VIII. Candidate should be a male studying in Class VII and the age of the candidate should be between 11.5 and 13 years at the time of commencement of term. The written examination consists of a test paper consisting of 3 parts:English (125 Marks), Mathematics (200 Marks), and General Knowledge (75 marks). Candidates have to score at least 50% in each subject to qualify. Candidates are then shortlisted through the written test and called for Viva-Voce which is of 50 marks.
