It all started in 1875 when the movement formed on prayer and service united under the name of Young Women's Christian Association and adopted a Blue Triangle as its symbol.
In 1894,the World YWCA was established to co-ordinate and help the various national YWCA's.Its constitution gave it the status of a global movement of women.
Today it is the largest membership based women's organization in the world. It unites and speaks for up to 25 million women involved with its activities. It works at national,local and community levels. It is committed to empower women to fulfill their role in their communities, nation and world.
