Abour Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is exam accomplished 7 Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science in support to the National Coordinating Board under the Department of Education and MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) (MHRD) and Government of India.
Eligibility
Yu should have minimum eligibility of a Bachelor's degree in engineering which should be like a 4 year University Degree which is similar to US system. You can have Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Pharmacy and Technology or you should have a Master's degree in subjects like Computer Applications, Mathematics, Science and Statistics, like the British system. The exam is generally taken in the month of February of the second Sunday. Some institutions state GATE, a compulsory qualification for admission for even self-financing students. The students who have successfully qualified GATE are also qualified for CSIR sponsored projects and Junior Research Fellowship in CSIR Laboratories respectively. In some government organizations, a successful GATE score is required to apply for a Scientist or Engineer post. To gain the scholarship, the student must take admission in a postgraduate program. Though, GATE qualification is not required with Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Pharmacy or Technology who seeks scholarship for significant doctoral programs.
Applying To Various Institutes
Remember that GATE scores are required only to apply for the Engineering graduate programs in India. Generally IISc submission dates are inside 4–5 days of declaration of results. Generally most of the institutes don’t state their cut-offs for earlier years so the students might get confused in selecting specializations and institutes.
