ADMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT - 2011-12

Applications are invited from candidates who are domicile of Gujarat State or working in Gujarat State since last three years, except for course at Sr. No. 3, for admission to the following courses commencing from JULY-2011.

(1) POST DIPLOMA IN INDUSTRIAL SAFETY (one year full time)

Minimum educational qualification and experience requirement as under :

a.) M.E. or M.Tech or MIH or b.) M.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Environment or c.) B.E. or B.Tech or d) Post Diploma in Industrial Environment Technology & Management or e.) Diploma in Engineering with two years exp. or f.) B.Sc. with Chemistry, Physics, Electronics, Environment as principal subjects with two years experience. Only post qualification experience will be considered.

(2) POST DIPLOMA IN INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT

(one year full time)

Minimum educational qualification and experience requirement as under :

a.) Post Diploma in Industrial Safety or b.) M.E. or M.Tech. or c.) B.E. or B.Tech. in any discipline of Engineering and Technology or d.) M.Sc. in any discipline or e.) B.Sc. in any discipline with two years experience or f.) Diploma in any discipline of engineering and technology with two years experience. The experience will be counted after acquiring the requisite qualification.

(3) P.G. CERTIFICATE COURSE IN INDUSTRIAL HEALTH FOR FACTORY MEDICAL OFFICERS 

(3 months full time)

Candidates possessing MBBS Degree and permanent registration in medical council will be eligible.

 Infrastructure facilities: The Institute has an architectural grandeur situated in the midst of pleasant surrounding with many renowned educational and research institutions. It has excellent infrastructure facilities like A.C. Classrooms equipped with fully electronic audio visual equipments, well equipped A.C. Library, Canteen, A.C. Auditorium, A.C. Seminar Rooms and Open Air Theatre.

 Hostel & Canteen facilities: Limited rooms are available for outstation student on payment basis.

Application forms and prospectus can be obtained from the Institute on payment of Rs.250/- in cash or by Demand Draft in favour of 'Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute' from the Accounts Branch of the Institute between 11.00 am to 5.00 pm on any working day from 02-05-2011 to 21-05-2011. Those who desirous of getting the forms by post will have to pay an additional amount of Rs.50/- for postal charges.

About MAHATMA GANDHI LABOUR INSTITUTE (MGLI)

The first Labour Laws Review Committee headed by Justice D.A. Desai had in 1974, recommended to have a full-fledged Institute for studies in the field of Labour & Employment to be set up at Ahmedabad. Apart from the recommendation of the Labour Laws Review Committee, Government had also felt the need for well organized programmes - for research, training and development to meet effectively the challenges in the field of Industrial relation and employment. A Scheme for the establishment of an Institute of Labour Studies at Ahmedabad was accordingly, submitted by the Commissioner of Labour in June 1978. The Government had included it in Sixth Five Year Plan of the Gujarat State.

The Government orders were issued on 6th September, 1979 for setting up the Institute at Ahmedabad and naming it as “Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Labour Studies." Accordingly the Institute was registered as a Society, under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 on 15th September, 1979 bearing registration No: GUJ/681/Ahmedabad with the twin objective of promotion of harmonious relations and providing social justice to labour.
