Maharashtra, MHT CETMaharashtra government conducts MHT CET for selection of students to all degree courses in BVSc & AH, Health Sciences, Engineering and Pharmacy courses. The reason behind taking a single combined entrance exam for all this courses was reduction of complexity and transparency. Before the CET was declared, student had to appear for different exam for each course increasing their stress, so by declaring CET state government reduced this stress to great extent. All the information and brochures related to exam are published well before the actual exam and all the information is also available on its site.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria differ from course to course, for example some courses require 50% marks in PCM group while some ask for PCB group. Some basic rules are also established related to age.
Selection Procedure
All students have to appear for CET if they wish to take admission for any of the above mentioned course. It is a written test and has MCQS type questions in it. After completing this test, candidates can apply for admission procedures of various courses through which, they are selected based on cut off list. Any student can appear for any course provided he has opted for all the required subjects for that course and if even after all cut off rounds, someone doesn’t get admission to proper collage, he/she can apply for last round in which takes place in Aurangabad. There he can have a look at any vacant seats in all collages and take admission as per vacancy.
Examination Pattern
The question paper of CET comprises of 4 subjects viz. Math, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Out of which, Chemistry, Physics carry 50 marks and Biology and Math carry 100 marks each. Candidates get total 1.5 hour for solving Physics and Chemistry paper and get 1.5 hour each for solving Math and Biology paper.
